Announcement from Senator Mike Lee
When I defeated a three-term incumbent last year it struck me; it's not enough to be a Republican. It's not enough to call yourself a Conservative. We need to elect people who understand the United States Constitution and are willing to put everything on the line to defend it.
Every time the government acts it does so at the expense of our liberty.
Today, there are very few aspects of our lives the federal government cannot and does not intrude upon. We are confronted with over-regulation at every turn and the sovereign authority of the states has never been weaker.
Our national debt is unsustainable as Washington persists in perpetual deficit spending. There is a deep and fundamental opposition in Congress to structural reforms that will start to solve many of the challenges we face.
I believe the root of many of these problems has been the erosion of constitutional limitations on the power of the federal government. It has become too big, too expensive and too intrusive, all at the expense of American ingenuity, economic prosperity, and individual liberty.
That is why I have created the Constitutional Conservatives Fund.
We need leaders in Washington who respect the limitations placed on the federal government by our Constitution. The American people deserve to have representatives that correctly understand and follow the letter and spirit of our founding document. We must demand that Washington not act outside of its powers that are few and defined.
The Constitutional Conservatives Fund will actively support future leaders who believe in the limited role of the federal government.
Will you join me in identifying and supporting candidates for federal office who respect our Constitution?
Today, too many people in Washington are asking themselves the wrong question. Instead of asking “Should the federal government be involved,” they ask, “How can the federal government be involved.”
From choices about which doctors we see and where we send our kids to school, to what cars we drive and how to run a business, the federal government is constantly intervening into our personal lives.
This is not the role the founders intended the federal government to have. The brilliant men who wrote our Constitution understood the implicit tyranny of a government that was too powerful, too centralized, and too big.
We have to fight against the constant expansion of government. And I need your help!
The Constitutional Conservatives Fund will help elect candidates who will:
• Agree that the Constitution gives the federal government powers that are few and defined
• Uphold government's most basic function- to protect life, liberty and property;
• Support a balanced budget amendment;
• Oppose big government programs like ObamaCare;
• End excessive regulation that makes it harder for businesses and families to succeed;
• Reform entitlement programs to give more flexibility and control to the states;
• Reject increasing our national debt until Congress passes a balanced budget amendment;
• Protect the unborn;
• Reform the tax code through a flat or fair tax;
• Oppose all bailouts;
• and defend our Second Amendment rights.
Together we will put those in office who respect Constitutional limitations on the federal government so we may live our lives according to our own values.
Please join me today with your support for the Constitutional Conservatives Fund.
Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Mike Lee
